Garden Projects

Making an inviting outdoor space is fun, and there are lots projects anyone can do to make the outdoor space fun.

Outdoor activities can include a get together BBQ or just relaxing and enjoying the outdoors.

Laying slabs

It’s not a difficult job, so put aside a weekend.

You will soon be entertaining friends, or enjoying a well-earned rest on your patio surrounded by pots and plants.

Cover the entire area with the mix to a depth of 75mm, level it out with a shovel.

Then tamp down using a length of timber or trample down with your boots.

Lay the paving slabs on a full mortar bed, which should support the whole slab, not just the corners.

Use a mortar mix of 6 parts sharp sand to 1 part cement.

Remember to have a spirit level handy and check each slab as you lay it, to make sure it is level tamp down with some wood to get the correct levels or use a rubber mallet.

When dry, brush in silver sand between the slabs to fill in any gaps, this can be left on the surface fr a day or two and will sink in naturally.

A good patio will give hours of pleasure and properly laid, will last for years.
